Nine members of the same family will be cycling from Worcester to Lyme Regis in memory of former Worcester Grammar School pupil James Milbourne (Milb). James passed away in July 2015 of a cardiac arrest as a result of undiagnosed sarcoidosis at the age of twenty-nine.
Just before he died James sold his business, Buddy’s Baguettes in Worcester, to fulfil one of his dreams, a coast to coast cycle of America with his school friends from Worcester Grammar. Tragically James passed away just a few weeks before the planned cycle.
James’ cousin Rob Matthews said “As James didn’t make his cycle event we decided to organise our own, ‘Tour de Lyme Regis’ in his memory, to raise awareness and funds for SarcoidosisUk. We will be cycling 144 miles from Worcester to Lyme Regis, where we all spent many happy holidays.”
“Only one of us has cycled any long distance before and many of us haven’t been on a bike since our childhood, so it will be a challenging couple of days, especially for Alan who’s 67. Mind you, he might show a few of us younger ones how to do it. Our aim is to cover the 144 miles in two days and we have spent the last six weeks training hard resulting in many aching muscles and sore … areas.”
TOGETHER WE CAN CHANGE THAT
As James didn’t make his cycle event, we – as a family – decided to organise one in his memory to raise funds for SarcoidosisUK.
‘Tour De Lyme Regis’
On 21st and 22nd September 2017 nine members of our family will be riding 144 miles from Worcester, James’ home town, to Lyme Regis where we all spent many happy holidays.
Please help us to reach our target of £5000 and support SarcoidosisUK by sponsoring our team at: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tourdelymeregis
This will make a difference to people’s lives
It could mean another family doesn’t suffer like ours.
